Campaigns (Creator)

A war that writes itself.

A connected series of missions that tells one evolving story. You set the premise; the campaign generates each mission from how your squadron actually performed in the last one — and tracks every pilot for an end-of-campaign recap.

How it works

  1. Set the premise — theatre(s), your side and the enemy, the overall goal, and how many missions the arc should run.
  2. Mission 1 is generated — a Campaign Director writes the opening situation and builds the first mission to match.
  3. Fly it — download the .miz (or have it auto-deploy to your Fox3 server) and run it.
  4. Results steer the story — a decisive win pushes the offensive forward; a loss forces a regroup. The next mission, and its difficulty, react to what just happened.
  5. Repeat to the finale — when the arc resolves, you get an epilogue plus a full per-pilot scoreboard.

It's generative, not a fixed branch tree

There's no pre-authored choose-your-own-adventure map. Each next mission is generated on the fly from the premise + the story so far + the real outcome of the last sortie. Two playthroughs of the same premise diverge because your pilots fly them differently — that's the replayability.

The story follows you

Every mission briefing opens with a STORYsection that picks up where the last one left off and names the pilots who made a difference — “Viper's three-kill SEAD run cracked the Damascus belt; Hammer punched out but walked away.” The tactical brief (slots, threats, targets) is generated underneath it as usual.

Per-pilot scoring & the recap

Pilots are tracked across the whole campaign — kills, deaths, objectives, and a running point total — keyed to each pilot so the scoreboard follows them mission to mission. At the end the recap ranks the squadron and closes out the story.

Advancing the campaign

There are two ways the next mission gets generated:

  • Automatic (Fox3-hosted) — if the campaign is pinned to a Fox3 server, results are read back off the server after a mission is flown and the next one is generated for you, hands-off.
  • Manual — on the campaign page, hit Advance to report the outcome and generate the next mission. This is the path for campaigns you run on your own server.

⚠️ Good to know

  • Theatres are limited to Syria, Persian Gulf, Nevada, Marianas, and Caucasus.
  • Automatic result ingestion is Fox3-server only; campaigns on your own server use the manual Advance button.
  • A server that loops the same mission forever won't auto-finalize — use Advance to move on.
  • Campaign missions embed persistent-state saving, so they pair naturally with persistent campaign mode.

How to start one

  1. Go to /campaigns and click New campaign.
  2. Fill in the premise — title, theatre(s), factions, the arc goal, and length.
  3. Mission 1 generates automatically. Download it (or let it deploy to your server) and fly.
  4. Let it auto-advance, or hit Advance after each mission, until the recap.
